Obiettivi formativi

 

Il corso - che fa parte del progetto di Ateneo start@unito (https://start.unito.it) - intende fornire a studenti e studentesse gli strumenti fondamentali per potersi orientare, sul piano storico, nelle dinamiche politiche, economiche e sociali dell’Ottocento e del Novecento, con particolare riferimento alla dimensione internazionale e ai relativi modelli interpretativi.

 

 

The course - which is part of the University's project start@unito (https://start.unito.it) - intends to offer to students the basic instruments necessary for an all-around orientation from the historical point of view, in the political, economic and social dynamics of the Nineteenth and the Twentieth Century. The focus will be the international dimension and the frames of interpretation related to that.

Gli studenti e le studentesse dovranno dimostrare di:

  • (CONOSCENZA e COMPRENSIONE) conoscere gli avvenimenti dell’Ottocento e del Novecento italiano, europeo e mondiale
  • (APPLICARE CONOSCENZA e COMPRENSIONE) saper leggere e comprendere le diverse tipologie di fonti fornite come materiale didattico integrativo
  • (AUTONOMIA di GIUDIZIO) saper comprendere le principali interpretazioni sull’età contemporanea con autonomia e maturità, a partire dalle conoscenze e competenze acquisite
  • (CAPACITA’ di APPRENDIMENTO) conoscere la bibliografia più recente e aggiornata.

 

 

At the end of the course

  • (KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING) students should show a suitable knowledge of the Nineteenth and the Twentieth Century’s events in Italy, Europe and the World
  • (APPLYING KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING) students must be able to read and understand the different types of sources provided as supplementary teaching materials
  • (JUDGMENT AUTONOMY) students must be able to understand the main interpretations of the Contemporary Age with autonomy and maturity, from the acquired knowledge and skills
  • (LEARNING SKILLS) moreover, students must know the most recent and updated bibliography.

I temi principali dell'insegnamento saranno i seguenti:

  • Le origini dell’età contemporanea: le Rivoluzioni industriali; lo Stato-nazione; Stati-nazione e Imperi in Europa
  • Imperialismi e nazionalismi: le potenze extraeuropee; l’età dell’imperialismo; l’Europa dei nazionalismi
  • Guerra e rivoluzione: la Prima guerra mondiale; la Rivoluzione russa; il dopoguerra e il fascismo
  • L’età della catastrofe: la crisi del ’29; i totalitarismi; la Seconda guerra mondiale
  • Il mondo bipolare e il Terzo mondo: la guerra fredda; l’età dell’oro in Occidente; la decolonizzazione
  • La fine di un’epoca: la crisi del bipolarismo; la crisi economica degli anni ’70; il crollo del comunismo e la globalizzazione.

 

 

The main themes of the course are:

  • The origins of the contemporary age: Industrial revolutions; Nation-State; Nation-States and Empires in Europe
  • Imperialisms and nationalisms: Usa and Japan; the age of imperialism; the Europe of nationalisms
  • War and revolution: The First World War; the Russian revolution; post-war and fascism
  • The “age of catastrophe”: the crisis of ’29; Totalitarianisms; the Second World War
  • The bipolar world and the “Third World”: The Cold war; The Golden Age in Western World; the Decolonization
  • The end of an era: the crisis of bipolar world; the economic crisis of the 70s; the end of communism and the Globalisation.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

 

Prova informatizzata. L'esame finale consiste in un test informatico simile a quelli che studentesse e studenti hanno svolto durante le prove di autovalutazione e nel test finale, previsti nell'insegnamento on line. Il test si compone di 30 domande a risposta chiusa, a cui bisognerà rispondere entro un tempo assegnato di 30 minuti. La votazione sarà espressa in trentesimi.

 

 

Computerized test. The final exam consists of a computer test similar to those that the student did during the self-assessment tests and in the final test, provided in the online course. The test consists of 30 closed-answer questions, which must be answered within 30 minutes. The grading will be given in thirtieths.
